There Jesus states, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). Jesus is not pointing to a sexual purity or even a moral purity. Instead, he is pointing us to a spiritual purity, or a purity of heart.
Why is purity so important?
The most significant benefit of purity is that it allows you entrance into God’s holy presence. The Bible says, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). This eternal life is only possible by receiving forgiveness of sins through faith in Jesus Christ. What else does purity do in your life?
What is the purpose of beauty?
Beauty is what allows us to experience the extraordinary richness of our surroundings. Sensing it is like having a visa to our inner selves and the rest of the world, all at once. The interesting thing about beauty is that there is simply no downside to it: It can only enhance our lives.
How do you practice purity?
- Get a New Heart. We are not pure people by nature.
- Love What God Loves. Indeed, this is the heart of the matter: having a heart that fears and loves God and wants to do the things that bring Him glory.
- Control Yourself. Self-control helps your progress toward purity.
- Be Accountable.
