Can beans be overwatered?
Watering. Keep both bush and pole beans well watered, but be careful, as beans tend to rot in the ground if over-watered. To avoid this, allow the top layer of soil to dry in between watering your starts.
How do I know if my bean plant is dying?
Leaves yellow; plants wilt and appear weak; sunken, red oval spots at base of stem; roots have red spots or streaks; plants turn brown and decay. Rhizoctonia or Fusarium root or stem rot is a fungal disease that favors warm soil. Remove infected plants and plant debris that harbor fungus.
How often should you water bean plants?
Irrigate beans immediately after planting. Keep the seed bed moist, but not soggy, for the first week until germination occurs. Reduce watering to once every three days after the first week. Water as needed after beans become established, usually about twice a week.
